Hammers can be found around the map randomly in stores and some ground floor homes, as such on shelves, inside closets and on garage floors. But Hammers are mainly located in remote and unmarked locations like camps, inside and outside of derelict buildings. Although notable buildings like the Estate and large town still do contain a high possible yield for tools such as the Hammer.
Hammers are a very important tool for building many of the structures in the game.

Like the Hammer, Saws are randomly found through out the world although can be harder to find, but still can be located at stores and some ground floor homes, as such on shelves, inside closets and on garage floors. Hammers are mainly located in remote and unmarked locations like Huts, inside and outside of derelict buildings. Although notable buildings like at the Estate and large town still do contain a possible tool such as the Saw.
Saws are used for some basic crafting, but are mainly based as a use for building some of the few higher tier structures as well, namely the wooden walls which offer a large amount of protection to a base from infected to bandits.
